Carat Australia has taken OMD's mantle as top ranked media agency in the latest release of RECMA’s Qualitative Network Diagnostics report. It is the first time Carat has reached top spot.

OMD was ranked second, followed by PHD, MEC, Dentsu Mitchell, and UM and MediacCom in equal sixth.

Carat has had a strong 12 months winning clients Greenstone, Danone, Murray Goulburn, Tourism WA and Seven West Media. The agency also opened an office in South Australia and took out the AdNews Media Network of the Year award (pictured).

The report, which comes out three times a year, rates 23 media agencies in Australia on 19 criteria according to a four-level strength scale.

Dentsu Aegis Network, of which Carat is its leading agency, was also ranked number one media network in the Australian market.

Simon Ryan, Dentsu Aegis Network CEO and Carat Australia CEO ANZ, said he was proud of the Carat team.

"The growth of Carat combined with the success of our clients means we have a structure that aligns to today’s and tomorrow’s business landscape and honestly competes in the fast moving digital economy," Ryan said.

Carat has also enjoyed success on the sports field recently, beating IPG Mediabrands to take out this year's Agency of Origin touch footy tournament
