Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) agency Carat has retained the media accounts for Medibank and AHM, following a competitive pitch process.

The reappointment extends the agency's four-year partnership with Australia's largest private health insurer.

“We are proud to be continuing our partnership with Medibank – an iconic Australian business that is highly sophisticated and customer-focused," Carat Melbourne managing director Joseph Pardillo says.

A team of professionals from across DAN will deliver media strategy, planning and buying; digital performance; and data analytics across the Medibank and AHM brands.

The retention of the $50 million account is an important one for both Carat and the holding group, which over the past six months has lost a significant portion of its media clients.

Major accounts including Super Retail GroupVirgin AustraliaAsahi Beverages, the AFL and The Good Guys, have all moved their business out of DAN throughout the year.

Despite this, the agency has seen success in both Perth and Adelaide, retaining Cash Converters in WA, while being appointed to the SA Government's media panel.

The retention also comes just as Carat welcomes its new CEO Sue Squillace. Squillace joins in September from Spark Foundry, taking over leadership from previous national MD Simon James Williams, who exited the business last month.
