Australian graphic design tool website Canva has announced more than 30 partnerships for the launch of its new offering Canva Apps.

Announced at its Summer Season Opener, Canva has partnered with other tech companies including Google, Dropbox, Facebook and Instagram to streamline the workflow process for users.

Canva Apps will offer users access to additional content, editing and publishing tools through its partners.

Seb Ruiz, who is the head of Canva Apps, told AdNews the launch had been at least 18 months in the process but had always been a part of the company’s strategy.

“It’s always been apart of the vision of Canva to integrate and help our customers design,” Ruiz says.

“Canva is trying to complement individuals and teams with the tools that will help them be most successful.”

Ruiz says the companies Canva has chosen to partner were carefully selected to help make the customer journey easier.

“The selection of apps we have was really thoughtful,” he says.

“We spent a lot of time thinking about who we should partner and integrate with.

“We want to have great relationships with our partners. We went to help them reach our audience to help our audience to also design better.”

Canva Apps is launching initially in English-speaking countries with a worldwide rollout planned in the next month.

It will be available across mobile, web and its newly launched desktop application which was also announced at the Summer Season Opener.

Ruiz says it will be in beta testing for a minimum of three months with customer feedback being paramount to its next steps.

“We’re not going to be reckless about this, we’re going to build a long-standing platform over time,” he says.

“There are a lot of components involved to build Canva Apps. So, we’ve actually built it with extensibility in mind.

“We can’t build every single workflow for every single team that’s in the business. We want to enable any team out there to plug in whatever they need which means that we’ve built Canva Apps on an extensible platform.”

In addition to launching Canva Apps, the company has also launched Canva Video to help users create professional videos for free.

Users will be able to access free stock videos and a library of music and sound.

“Our mission is to empower everyone to design anything without any complex software or having to go to different sources for different elements,” Canva chief product officer and co-founder Cameron Adams says.

“We’re bringing the same experience to our video editing tool. This means we take stock video, soundtracks, layouts, typography, animations and integrate it into one experience.”

The company made several other announcements including a new feature that would enable users to work together in teams on a single project and the launch of an education version for schools to use for free.

In October, Canva raised $US85 million in funding, valuing the business at $US3.2 billion ($AU4.7 billion) and launched its enterprise platform.
