Startups and SMEs looking to strike partnerships and marketing opportunities with brands and other businesses will soon be able to tap into Australian startup Collabosaurus.com, an online matchmaking platform inspired by the success of freelancer.com.

Founded by Sydney-based PR and marketer Jessica Ruhfus, the site, which goes live today, is designed to bring companies together who may offer up different expertise and alternative partnership and marketing opportunities.

Ruhfus explains that the site would like to pull together, for example, “businesses looking to extend corporate social responsibility can partner with relevant charities; alcohol companies can find relevant events to sponsor, or gyms that can partner with dieticians and health food companies.”

Funded by one private investor Ruhfus reveals that the current target audience for Collabosaurus is the lifestyle, fashion, food, beverage and venue space sectors.

Ruhfus, whose cousin and mentor was involved in the inception of freelancer.com, has a background in helping raise awareness of small businesses through industry events, social media and content marketing.

She explained to AdNews that she found herself “frustrated by the barriers of collaboration” and this inspired her to “set about finding an online solution that could save money and foster better relationships.”

The site will initially be marketed on social media and via competitions, in which the prize will be a marketing campaign devised and funded by Collabosaurus itself.
