Block leads over Gruen finale

On its final show of the year, ABC's Gruen has been pipped at the post by Nine's The Block, which led as the most watched program last night.

The Block picked up 1.037 million viewers last night, beating even the news programs as most watched show of the night.

It also led in the major demographics of 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 age bracket.

Gruen was the fifth most watched show of the evening, with 948,000 viewers, on what was its last show of the season.

Seven's double episode of Highway Patrol picked up the ninth and 12th spots, with the second episode winning 754,000 viewers and the first episode in the double billing hitting 680,000 viewers.

Nine won the night on 29.1% audience share followed by Seven on 27.9% audience share. ABC reached 18.9% audience share with Ten trailing just behind on 18.3% audience share.

SBS followed on 5.8% audience share.
