The season finale for Australian Survivor: All Stars has attracted a peak metro audience of 944,000 viewers for Ten.

The episode was split into two segments, The Winners Announced and The Grand Finale, which pulled in 944,000 and 878,000 metro viewers respectively.

This year’s season was aired earlier in the year compared to last year, which ran from July to September.

“We took a big swing introducing Australian Survivor in the first quarter when audiences were so used to watching it over the winter months,” says Beverley McGarvey, ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand chief content officer and EVP.

“It was a risk that paid off. We have seen year-on-year audience share growth every single week in 2020 driven, in large part, by Australian Survivor: All Stars.”

The show lifted Ten’s timeslot audience by 49% compared to the same nights last year, including an 84% increase among under 50s. The show’s broadcast video on-demand audience was also lifted, by 7% year-on-year.

Osher Gunsberg was called in to host the finale, after Jonathan LaPaglia was unable to return to Australia due to travel restrictions caused by the pandemic.

News continued to dominate the night, with Seven News attracting 1.263 million metro viewers, followed by Seven News at 6.30 with 1.242 million viewers and Nine News with 1.214 million viewers.

In the top spot for entertainment once again was Nine’s Married at First Sight, which had an audience of 1.122 million.
