Australian contactless communication business Tapit has expanded with a office in New York.

After working on mobile projects with global clients including Google in the United States, Andrew Davis, COO and co-founder of the business has moved to the US to grow the business.

“After creating the contactless communications sector in Australia we think the timing is perfect to begin our journey into the US following our two Google US projects earlier this year,” Davis told AdNews.

“The key advantage for Tapit is that we've worked with bluechip brands from day one, so our strategy is to replicate those relationships in the North America market just like we did with Google.

“We hope we can wave the Australian tech flag high. The support from everyone in Australia has been incredible so we arrive in the US with great confidence and an attitude of we won't die wondering what might have been," he said.

Last month Tapit inked a deal with News Corp's lifestyle arm, NewsLifeMedia, which saw the two businesses sign an exclusive content partnership.

Tapit now has offices in Sydney, China, Tokyo, Dubai, with a client list that consists of Coca-Cola, Samsung, Telstra, Nike, Virgin Mobile, McDonalds and Google both in Australia and the US.
