EXCLUSIVE: Financial services provider Allianz Australia has put its $15 million media planning and buying account into play, with incumbent OMD preparing to fend off three other agencies.

Omnicom’s OMD will repitch for the business alongside GroupM’s Maxus and MEC, with a decision expected by mid-May.

Although PHD was said to be pitching alongside sister agency OMD, PHD CEO Barry O'Brien said: "We haven't spoken to Allianz, nor would we. We're not pitching."

An Allianz spokesman told AdNews: “Allianz is not conducting an open pitch for our media agency services. We are, however,  undertaking a review of current arrangements in the context of our parent company’s global alignment with GroupM.”

GroupM’s MediaCom picked up the global media account in 2009, ousting incumbent OMD. However, OMD’s Australian operation retained the local business.
