Buy now, pay later business Afterpay has appointed WPP's AKQA to its media account.

AKQA confirmed the appointment to the brand's media account, which will include both digital and offline activity.

"To resource the Afterpay account, AKQA may utilise the WPP AUNZ model of seconding talent and resources from across the Group if required," AKQA said in a statement.

The account was previously held by Dentsu's Vizeum which was rolled into the holding group's digital performance marketing agency iProspect earlier in the year.

Afterpay recently underwent a global rebrand created by YummyColours.

The rebrand included a new global look, feel and positioning with a fresh brand identity, as well as a collaboration with colour institute Pantone to create an exclusive mint hue, named Bondi Mint, for the brand.

The colour's name is an ode to Afterpay's roots with the business being founded in Bondi five years ago.
