60-second interview: Unruly's Lance Traore

By AdNews | 17 August 2015

Unruly AU/ANZ MD Lance Traore spent 60 seconds with AdNews on psychology, dealing in memes, and where to eat if you're ever in Stockholm.

My favourite restaurant for a business lunch is: I’m Swedish, so I’d have to say Riche in Stockholm. If you go there, look for Nils Andersson, PC and Karja and have a glass of cava with them. You won’t be disappointed.

My favourite ad is: The Lego Movie. Genius!

My must-have gadget is: You can’t say phone anymore. It’s transcended being a gadget - it’s a limb! I’d have to say my Playstation 4.

My favourite media is: FIFA15, and I hereby challenge anyone in the Australian ad industry to a game.

My favourite TV show is: Can you still say Seinfeld or does that make me pathetic? I’ll still say Seinfeld!

The last book I read: The Advertising Effect: How to Change Behaviour by Adam Ferrier

My mantra / philosophy is: Pimpin’ ain’t easy ... but somebody’s gotta do it!

I got into the media industry because: I’ve always been fascinated by the psychology behind advertising. Even as a kid I used to love to watch the home shopping channel out of pure fascination for the propaganda-style messaging.

If I wasn’t doing this for a living, I’d be: A really terrible, but friendly, bartender in a tropical paradise.

In five years’ time I’ll be: Still thinking about if I could have answered the 60-second questions in a better way ...

Tell us a joke:  I prefer to deal in memes.

Define your job in one word:  Inspire.

What’s your poison: My growing gut will tell you that I’ve got tons of them. Unfortunately, exercise is not one of them.
