Dulux has appointed DDB Melbourne as its sole creative and strategy agency following a competitive pitch.

As a result of the appointment, the agency will lead strategy and creative for Dulux’s decorative paints and coatings portfolio of brands, including Dulux, British Paints, and Berger.

Dulux GM of marketing, strategy and growth Richard Hansen says the company previously worked with a number of agencies across its portfolio.

"To maximise our market impact going forward, we’ve brought them under one umbrella agency with DDB as our lead creative agency," Hansen says.

“We were extremely impressed with DDB’s strategic smarts and creative ambition, particularly with their focus on brand and what’s needed as an overall approach for success. We know DDB will be true business partners for Dulux and we look forward to working with the talented team for years to come.”

DDB has already been working with Dulux for several years on its British Paints brand.

"It has been an incredible year for DDB Melbourne, even with the headwinds of COVID-19, and we’re looking forward to driving greater impact for Dulux in the future," DDB Group Australia CEO Andrew Little says.

The win comes after a successful 2020 for DDB Melbourne, also picking up the Coles and Kmart accounts earlier this year.

The agency also recently appointed TBWA's Mike Napolitano as managing director, following the departure of Kate Sterling.
