Spotify MD relocates to LA

Kate Vale, MD of Spotify Australia is relocating to LA as part of a "temporary" move. She will continue to run the Australian business from the US. Spotify said: "Kate is temporarily relocating to Los Angeles with her family as her husband Justin Viles expands his company, ROKT, into the US. She will continue to manage Spotify's AUNZ operations out of Spotify's LA office, with regular trips back to Sydney."

Starcom wins MYOB media account

Starcom has won the business for accounting software provider MYOB, replacing incumbent PHD. Starcom will provide a full-service for the software firm in Australia and New Zealand. “The pitch response from Starcom demonstrated a deep understanding of our our brand and market, a sophisticated approach to media, data and analytics with a compelling vision to help us take the MYOB brand to the next level,” MYOB general manager of group marketing Natalie Feehan said.

Nine and Telstra secure netball rights

The Nine Network and Telstra will show full coverage of 2017 netball season after securing the largest broadcasting rights deal in Australian women's sport history. As part of the deal, Nine will show free-to-air coverage of a Saturday night double-header each round and Telstra will live stream other games in a revised national competition that ditches New Zealand teams in favour of three new Australian sides. Netball Australia says the "transformative" broadcast deal will help elite netball become fully professional, by providing higher player salaries, higher distributions for the clubs, better sponsorship opportunities for Netball Australia and individual teams and unprecedented exposure. At present, netball is shown on Ten.

Ten and SCA strike Northern NSW deal

Ten Network and Southern Cross Media have signed a new affiliation deal for Northern NSW at an increased licence fee. The five-year agreement begins in July and will replace the current deal between the two broadcasters. The broadcasters said that Northern NSW is Australia's most heavily populated regional licence area.

Westfield marketing director John Batistich exits

After nine years at the shopping centre group Westfield marketing diretcor John Batistich has left the group. It's not known if he is being directly replaced but CEO Peter Allen recently announced it would create a customer experience division to align centre management, marketing, digital and insight teams. Batistich has been lauded for bringing digital technology and rich data into the Scentre Group's marketing function and focussing on the customer journey. 


Mondelez and ANZ marketers join AANA board

Mondelez managing director Amanda Banfield (pictured) and ANZ Bank's group general manager of marketing Louise Eyres are joining the AANA board. The AANA's purpose is the raise the profile of marketing and its role in delivering business outcomes. Matt Tapper, Lion's managing director of global markets, is AANA Chair.
