Ben Shepherd is leaving CHE Proximity after a year as chief media officer, the agency confirmed.

Industry insiders say Shepherd has a "great opportunity" that will be revealed later.

He came to the agency in June last year from PwC where he was director of the firm’s media practice and a founding member of its CMO Advisory Practice.

Shepherd is also a former head of strategy and innovation at OMD Australia and has worked at Theordore & Partners, Junkee Media and Maxus.

He is working through his 12 week notice period at CHE.

Group CEO Chris Howatson says the company is grateful for the contribution Shepherd has made.

"He is one of the smartest media minds in the country and has applied his talent to help us achieve a fully integrated, best in breed, media practice," says Howatson .

"He is also recognised for the support and leadership he offers the wider industry. His articles are revered for their insight and widely followed.

"During COVID, his efforts in running an industry-wide, 12 week education program, helped the entire media community.

"We wish him the very best and are thankful for the team he has built and the excellent work they do for our clients everyday.”
