Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has lured Bohemia's Karen Halligan to a newly created role of national commercial and operations director, after only nine months in the job.

Halligan joined Bohemia in April as head of implementation and investment. She had previously spent four years as general manager of Slingshot Media and has worked at MediaCom, Universal McCann and Coca-Cola.

SCA national sales director Andrea Ingham said Halligan's role would see her using her media agency experience to “add an extra dimension” to SCA's approach to the market and clients.

Halligan said: “The opportunity to work across SCA’s broad range of TV, radio, talent and digital assets does not come along very often and was too good to pass up. Taking the role of national commercial and operations director means that I can really leverage the leadership experience I have gained through previous client and agency roles and close the loop on the last frontier of media owner, I can’t wait to get started.”

Halligan will be based in Sydney and will commence her new role on November 24.
