The final of the ICC World Test Championship has attracted over 4.9 million viewers so far to watch the Australian cricket team take on India at The Oval in London on Channel 7 and 7Plus.

So far on 7plus, the first two days of action reached 547,000 viewers across the evening via connected TV and mobile devices.

The five-day test is the first Australian cricket event to be broadcast on 7plus, outside of the Commonwealth Games.

Across Thursday and Friday, the ICC World Test Championship helped Seven command a national audience share of 50.7% on Thursday night.

Session 1 of Day 1 was watched by an average of 823,000 viewers, up on the first session average from the 2019 Ashes Test from The Oval.

Seven’s head of network sport and MD of Seven Melbourne, Lewis Martin, said the ICC World Test Championship headlines an action-packed week of sports on Seven for fans across Australia.

“Across the long weekend we have unmissable AFL blockbuster matches, racing highlights and the Big Freeze 9 live and free on Seven – all while we build up to the biggest sporting event of the year, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, on Seven and 7plus from 20 July," said Martin.

Seven West Media chief revenue officer, Kurt Burnette, said Seven’s coverage of the ICC World Test Championship has reached over 4.1 million viewers, proving once again Seven is a destination that has the proven ability to deliver big Australian audiences and big moments for advertisers.

“For brands seeking mass audience impact and unrivalled attention across Australia’s most watched screens, there’s even more to come on Seven in 2023," said Burnette.

"On Monday, the revolutionary new social experiment Million Dollar Island launches, followed by Dancing With The Stars the week after.

"The rest of the year will keep getting bigger, with mass cultural moments including the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, the TV Week Logie Awards, The Voice, SAS Australia, MKR, RFDS, Big Brother and the AFL Grand Final still to come on Seven and 7plus.”
