OMG and PHD lead the Australia media agency pitch league

Omnicom Media Group (OMG) and its agency PHD are clearly winning the major media pitch league in Australia, according to data for the nine months to September. 

Marcom research house COMvergence, in its Q1-Q3 New Business Barometer, looked at 45 pitches and moves with a total spend of $US188 million. 

The biggest account was Spotlight at $US31 million won by PHD, followed by Metcash at $US21 million and Diageo at $US19 million. 

Looking at accounts bigger than $US1 million, 42 were won or retained by the international media agency networks, three by independents/In-house and five were retained by the incumbent.  

Omnicom Media Group headlines the pitch league among media agency groups with $US75 million in total new business including retentions in the nine months to September. 

Mediabrands was second with $US23 million, followed by Dentsu at $US20 million.

Among media agencies, PHD was the star performer at $US52 million, followed by Initiative at $US23 million, Starcom $US17 million, OMD $US14 million, Carat $US13 million and Wavemaker $US1 million.
