UM's Young Lions have won Silver in the Media category, joining a select band of the best young talent in industry to take home a trophy.
Communications strategist Kristine Ballensky and strategy manager Paul Den were presented with their award today after impressing judges yesterday with their pitch.
The brief was on Medical Sans Frontier. said Den. The objective was to drive more regular donations, and according to the team, the only way to do that was by creating more one-to-one connections. The pair chose a channel that has more personal exchanges with consumers than any other - money. Their idea was Notes on Notes, putting 250,000 stickers on British pounds that said "The last person holding this note wasn't ready to donate it across the border. Are you?" They asked doctors and existing donors to put the stickers on the notes in their wallet. When they spend it the message goes into circulation organically encouraging further donation.
"We had such an incredible experience representing Australia and News Limited," said Den, speaking for the two of them. "Cannot wait to get back home and celebrate with everyone."
