Three Australian press campaigns took home Lions this year.

Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney’s dog-themed campaign for Panasonics Nanoe Automotive Technology took three silvers, as did Leo Burnett’s endangered species Rhino, Shark and Tiger campaign for WWF.

McDonald’s Darth Vader and Superman ads for the Big Mac Legends campaign created by DDB Sydney, each won a bronze. bronze.

The Grand Prix went to UK upmarket department store chain Harvey Nichols for its Christmas campaign, which the judges said was “so simple, clever and fresh”.

Judge Damon Stapleton, who is swapping Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney for DDB New Zealand, said: “It sends a message out to the industry about getting back to ideas. There’s a lot of craft and very clever work but the simplicity of this work is iconic. If you’re looking for a grand prix, you’re looking for something that rises above. It’s hard to look at press individually, you have to look at how it integrates as well.”
