Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) has restructured its marketing operations, with marketing general manager Glen Feist departing and Michael Edmonds appointed as global marketing GM.
Former Top Cut foods general manager of sales and marketing, Michael Edmonds, has been hired as MLA's new top marketer. Under the new structure designed by MLA managing director Scott Hansen, Edmonds will be responsible for all of the red meat industry body's local and international marketing activities.
Edmonds spent three years at Top Cut Foods, which is part of Simplot Australia, and before that he had a three-year stint as GM of marketing at Foster's Group and nearly 10 years as group marketing manager at Mars.
Hansen said in a statement that a single marketing unit, combining formerly separate domestic and overseas marketing efforts, can be “more responsive to fluctuations in global marketing conditions and more efficient in resource allocation”.
“Mr Edmonds brings over two decades of experience and a unique blend of marketing and industry expertise to this new role, having worked in both trade and direct consumer marketing of global food and beverage brands,” Hansen said.
As part of the restructure MLA's marketing general manager Glen Feist has left the company. Feist spent 10 years with the MLA and was promoted to top marketing job in August 2010.
Edmonds will start his new role in late March before the 2012 marketing taskforce meetings, where industry representatives and MLA will finalise budgets and marketing activities around the globe for the year.
