EXCLUSIVE: Virgin Money has put its $3 million media account out to pitch, following the appointment of Aussie head of marketing Danielle Williams as marketing director.

Williams, who has replaced former Virgin Money marketing director Ryan Dinsdale, is overseeing the pitch process. Williams was appointed in December 2011.

The pitch has been called after the company's relationship with GroupM conflict unit MCHI ended. MCHI launched in Australia in 2009 to service the Virgin Money brand. Following the split in the relationship, AdNews understands the MCHI unit will no longer exist.

Virgin Money has recently appointed independent agency The Works as its creative agency locally. The agency was appointed at the end of last year. Virgin Money had previously hired UK agency Beattie McGuinness Bungay (BMB) to handle its advertising after its local agency Happy Soldiers disbanded.

BMB is also Virgin Money UK's creative agency.

Virgin Money spend an estimated $2.8 million in 2011, down from $2.9 million the prior year, according to Nielsen.

Virgin Money declined to comment on the media pitch, but multiple industry sources have confirmed it is underway.
