Network Ten has recruited former DMG Radio and Fox Interactive senior executive Rebekah Horne as its chief digital officer to oversee the company's digital strategy.

Horne will be tasked with continuing to develop the network's digital media strategy at a time when TV players are increasingly expanding their digital reach. She will report to Ten chief executive James Warburton.

She joined from US-based start-up Topfloor.com where she was chief executive. Prior to that, Horne was chief digital officer at DMG Radio and was managing director of Fox Interactive's Australian and then international operations. She has also done a stint at Optus.

Warburton said: “We are delighted to welcome someone with Rebekah's experience and skills to Network Ten. We have made significant progress with our digital media business over the past 12 months and Rebekah will play a key role in accelerating our growth in that area.”

Horne said: “The television industry has been faced with enormous changes that have had significant implications for all players in the value chain. This challenge provides the opportunity for the industry to overhaul its traditional model and ways of creating, distributing and monetising its content.”

Ten's digital strategy has frequently been touted as falling behind those of Seven and Nine. Horne's appointment appears to be aimed at addressing this gap.

The chief digital officer role was last filled by Nick Spooner, who left the network 18 months ago.
