Mi9-owned group buying company Cudo has appointed Mediabrands-owned UM Australia to handle strategy and buying.

The appointment will initially be strategy-heavy, as UM works with Cudo on a brand strategy project.

AdNews understands there was no incumbent on the account, with Cudo previously being pushed through Mi9 assets.

Cudo chief executive Mike Sneesby said: “We're confident UM can help us evolve our brand so we can take full advantage of the changes we are seeing in the group buying space.”

UM Australia chief executive Mat Baxter said: “Group buying is an extremely competitive category but Cudo has an amazingly strong brand and we think it can become even stronger.”

The appointment is effective immediately.
