WWF will leverage the power of the Queensland election and everyone’s favourite clown fish, in a digital campaign that sees Nemo hitting the campaign trail to protect the Great Barrier Reef.

Up until the Queensland state election on 31 January, Nemo will be helping to promote six policies that WWF wants implemented to protect the reef. Images and updates from the campaign trail will be shared online at a dedicated web hub, and on Twitter via @nemoforqld.

The website also includes a tool letting users “tweet the leaders”, which will simultaneously tweet all of the leaders in the major Queensland parties, and share the polices on Facebook.

WWF Australia CEO Dermot O'Gorman said the campaign is a fun way to demonstrate to political leaders that community wants action on the reef.

“Nemo for Queensland is a light hearted take on a very serious issue,” O'Gorman said.

“Digital channels are now an important part of WWF campaigns, providing a direct line of communication to our supporters and the wider community.”
