It's not quite dancing popcorn and chocolate bars, but Village Roadshow makes food the star in its latest in-cinema push.

Well, they're not dancing, but they're close.

Village Cinemas Australia has launched its new in-cinema ad to promot people to visit the candy bar while they're at the cinemas, animating several characters including a box of popcorn, a soda, nachos, a choc-top and a hot dog.

The five characters, names Kernel, Pop, Salma, Koolio, and Frank respectively are known collectively as the 'Nom Noms' and will will be featured at point of sale, as well as through Village's digital assets.

The animated characters were conjured up by agency Lifelounge, and Village's general manager of sales and marketing Mohit Bhargava said the characters would not just be contained to the candy bar.

“The Nom Noms campaign will bring the Candy Bar to life with an element of entertainment, which will enhance the overall cinema experience from the moment movie-goers enter the foyer," Bhargava said.

“The Nom Noms campaign is part of a long-term strategy for the popular cinema chain and will not stop at the Candy Bar. The characters will evolve organically and may extend to other facets of the business outside the Candy Bar.”
