This Valentine’s Day give the gift of a pet’s unconditional love.

Queensland outdoor media provider Goa is encouraging both couples and singles to find real love this Valentine’s Day with a campaign to raise awareness for abandoned pets.

The campaign encourages people to rescue a pet rather than buy extravagant gifts this 14 February, with billboards that read: “Spread the love with a rescue pet this Valentine’s Day”.

Goa has donated five of their most prominent billboards in Brisbane in light of the post-Christmas season that sees hundreds of pets without a home.

The idea was inspired by Morris' border-colie-blue heeler who was a Valentine's gift from a shelter.

“You always hear heartbreaking stories of pets being returned or abandoned because people simply don’t want them," Goa strategist Leigh Morris says.

Goa’s CEO Chris Tyquin says: “Through Goa’s digital network this campaign will reach hundreds of thousands of people. It’s a positive, thoughtful message on an occasion that can otherwise be very commercial."
