Aldi has launched its global Christmas campaign and it's a very different affair to the Australian ad created by BMF. The ad aired on ITV in the UK earlier this month.

The campaign features a traditional Christmas with Sound of Music classic, Favourite Things being rewritten and sung by British pop star Jade Williams.

The ad showcases the wide range of Christmas treats that Aldi offers including Champagne, fresh seafood, desserts, decorations and of course, glazed ham.

The inspiration for the #AldiFavouriteThings campaign comes from the customers, said UK managing director Tony Baines: “Customers often talk enthusiastically about their favourite Aldi Christmas indulgences, so we wanted this advert to reflect that our stores are the home of everyone’s favourite things this Christmas.”

Creative agency McCann Manchester also included a variety of magical Christmas scenes with falling snow flakes, santa in the chimney and even an ice skating cake topper that comes to life.

Aldi's Australian Christmas campaign launched last week and has had positive responses across social media as it accurately shows how stressful Christmas can be for families. With a great response for the Australian campaign, BMF has set some high standards for the Aldi UK campaign.
