The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, has launched its first public awareness campaign in 40 years, showing that a good GP is with you for life.

Australia's pre-eminent GP representative group, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, has launched its first public awareness campaign in 40 years, created by The Shannon Company.

More than eight out of every 10 GPs across the country are with the RACGP and their almost 30,000 membership base conducts about 130 million consultations with around 80% of the Australian population, every year.

Managing partner with The Shannon Company, Ian Forsyth said the campaign followed the urging of GPs from across Australia.

"Royal Australian College of General Practitioners  members have made it clear they want their organisation to play a stronger advocacy role, highlighting the critical importance of primary health care and the outcomes it delivers for patients and communities."

"No group of people has more conversations with Australians about their health, oversees more treatments, and has as much responsibility for the well being of our nation as the members of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

"As policy makers look for ways to make the health system more sustainable, increasingly it needs to be GPs to whom they turn for knowledge, advice and support," he said.

In addition to the two minute TVC, which will also be shown in cinema, the national campaign also features TV spots of 30, 60 and 90 seconds, posters in GP practices and a strong digital component.
