McDonald's, which is known as Maccas in Australia, is a global fast food brand with more than 900 restaurants in Australia. It employs 90,000 people and serves almost one million people every day in Australia. McDonald's is a franchise business and more than two thirds of Australian restaurants are owned and operated by individuals. It is one of the top 10 biggest spending advertisers in Australia, according to Nielsen and invested around $85m in advertising in 2012.
