Countdown of Awesome: Zombies! Zombies! Zombies!

7 November 2013

This week we have drones, zombies, a transmedia idea and one eccentric but smart billionaire. Enjoy.

5) Flirtey

There has been a load of talk and controvery about UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) recently, particularly in reference to their use during the bushfires in the Blue Mountains. Flirtey will certainly add fuel to the fire with its automated flying delivery service. First to be implemented at The University of Sydney to deliver books, we may soon be making purchases on our phones to have a little flying courier deliver it in minutes.

4) Giant Xbox One

Further evidence zombies are always fun. Microsoft is getting into the habit of leaving big things around the place, Windows Phone at Times Square, Surface in London and now an Xbox One in Vancouver. The twist this time was on Halloween the Xbox burst open and hordes of zombies took to the street.

3) Norton Enjoy Your Privacy

We have seen a number of attempts to link desktop and mobile experiences and usually they are a lot of faffing about for not much reward. In this case setting up couldn’t be easier and the experience is truly immersive and interesting. Have a go at this one, it's good fun.

2) Kinect translates sign language

Kinect has been hacked to do loads of things it was never designed for, this hack surely couldn’t be more appropriate.

1) Billionaire buries his Bentley

In Brazil, Count Chiquinho Scarpa is well known as an eccentric billionaire. Scarpa created a massive media stir when he announced that he was burying his half a million dollar Bentley so it may later serve him in the afterlife like an Egyptian Pharaoh. On the big day with all the media present, Scarpa revealed his true intentions saying everyone thought it was absurd he was burying his car but what is really absurd is burying your organs. The event marked the opening of National Organ Donation week in Brazil.

That’s it for this week, thank you to all the contributors. If we have missed anything or you see some great work for next week’s blog hit us up.
