The Australian Magazine Awards were established in 2009 to
recognise magazines that perform at the highest level for publishers and
advertisers. A new category of Custom Magazines was introduced in 2010 and the
Website and App categories were added in 2011. Apart from these categories, it
is not possible to enter the awards. Magazines are shortlisted based on ABC
circulation, Morgan Readership and, where available, Nielsen ad expenditure
data. Final judging is undertaken by a panel of media buyers during September,
with the winners announced at an industry function in November. A new inductee
into the Magazines Hall of Fame is inducted at the awards presentation each
year.
