Woolworths has become the latest supermarket chain to go mobile, following the launch of its new iPhone app today.

Developed by TigerSpike the new app has a number of built-in features, including aisle finder, which directs users to exact location of the item they want.

App users can also access exclusive offers from their mobiles and accumulate Everyday Reward points and fuel vouchers.

Users can also scan products through the app as they shop, look up weekly specials and download up to 800 recipe ideas with links to ingredients found in the store.

Woolworths innovation program manager Has Fakira said: “We want to offer our customers a practical and easy to use solution that will help to improve the in store experience and allow them to shop more efficiently.”

The supermarket giant hopes the launch of a new campaign around the app on Sunday will help with downloads.

They have also uploaded an instructional video on the Woolworths website.
