Nick Leeder will step down this month.

Google is interviewing ahead of Australia CEO Nick Leeder's departure. An outstanding leader, he'll be a tough act to follow. Suffice to say it's not your average media sales job.

So who can balance interacting with top brands with strategic vision with political sure-footedness? Not to mention day-to-day running of the Australian Google operation.

Mi9 CEO Mark Britt would represent a coup for the firm, but is a dyed-in-the-wool Microsoft man. Surely Google couldn't tempt him?

Mark Scott has headed up the ABC for a few years now and is regarded as highly innovative. He's also ex-Fairfax, where Google has form.
