White Ribbon launches new anti-violence against women initiative

Each week, at least one Australian woman is killed by a former or current partner. It's this statistic that's the premise of White Ribbon Night, a new event from organisation White Ribbon Australia, which encourages people to stay in for an evening to raise awareness.

The event will take place on Friday 26 July. It's being promoted with a campaign created by Sydney-based agency Archibald Williams. Elements will include TV, online, digital and print.

It encourages Australians to "have a night in, to get the word out" in a bid to stop violence against women.

White Ribbon Australia chief executive Libby Davies said: “White Ribbon Night was developed to complement White Ribbon Day in November, as a way to raise funds for our primary prevention initiatives. We are hopeful that White Ribbon Night will be a success for years to come so we can continue to put a stop to men’s violence against women.”
