Clemenger, Havas and M&C all scooped gongs at the 18th annual Webby Awards last night, joining the likes of Jay Z, Justin Bieber, Google and Netflix in taking home metal.

Australia has won a total of five Webby Awards this year – one more than in 2013.

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne picked up Best Social Media Campaign in the Interactive Advertising and Media category for its 'Remote Control Tourist' work for Tourism Victoria.

Havas Worldwide Australia won Best Email Marketing in the Interactive Advertising and Media category for 'Cheers For All The Years' for Virgin Mobile.

And M&C Saatchi took home Best Use of Animation/Motion Graphics for 'The Art of Noise', a soundboard for agency creatives.

'The Art of Noise' also won the People's Voice Award for Australia, along with the website Freelancer.com.

The Webby Awards are judged by members of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, including Adrianna Huffington, Tumblr founder David Karp, and House of Cards producers Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti.

Other winners from around the world include Lawrence Lessig, who has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in intellectual property through political activism and for co-founding Creative Commons.

Kickstarter won Breakout of the Year, and De La Soul picked up Artist of the Year.

The winners will be recognised at an awards ceremony in New York on 18 May. Read the full list of Webby Award winners here.
