Telco brand Vodafone has moved its creative account from Host to Ogilvy Sydney without a pitch.

The account shift was due to “commercial efficiency” reasons.

Vodafone general manager of brand and communications, Jana Kotatko, said: “As part of a number of commercial efficiency measures, we have taken the decision to appoint Ogilvy Sydney as our creative agency.

“WPP is a partner of Vodafone worldwide, and we look forward to working side-by-side with STW and Ogilvy Sydney to bring a centralised and consistent focus across brand and communications at Vodafone.

“We would like to thank Host, an extraordinary creative agency who has been an incredible partner for Vodafone over the last two years.”

Host won the account two years ago and snagged the direct marketing side of the business last year from MercerBell. The agency had previously worked on Virgin Mobile.

Ogilvy was previously on Telstra's roster before changes in the telco's agency arrangements saw it dropped alongside BWM.

Last month, Vodafone announced it was merging its sales and marketing teams into a single department which saw the departure of chief marketing officer John Casey.
