The Bachelor is coming. Not actual contestants, just models.

Australians will soon be able to live out their very own Cinderella story with Ten commissioning the first Australian version of The Bachelor. But instead of glass slippers, you get heaps of cameras.

That's right, 11 years since its inception, the dating reality series is finally getting a local production. Produced by Shine Australia, Ten has put out the call for contestants.

Production will start shortly and the series will be broadcast later this year.

Network Ten chief programming officer Beverley McGarvey said: “The Bachelor is one of the longest-running and most successful television franchises in the world, with productions in 24 countries. We are thrilled to be working with Shine to take this iconic show and create a uniquely Australian entertainment event.”

Shine Australia chief executive Mark Fennessy said: “There are few marquee brands which have enjoyed the same connection with audiences worldwide as The Bachelor. We're delighted to bring this brilliant series to Australian viewers and look forward to introducing our very own Prince Charming.”

The original series debuted in 2002 and just completed its 17th season. The American version airs on Nine.
