Southern Cross Austereo nabs Sportsbet's top marketer

EXCLUSIVE: Southern Cross Austereo has appointed Sportsbet group marketing manager Paul Tyrrell as Melbourne sales and insights manager, after the departure of Fran Vavallo.

Tyrrell started at Southern Cross Austereo earlier in the month. His appointment follows Southern Cross Media’s acquisition of Austereo earlier in the year, which has seen a range of restructures within the executive, sales and marketing teams.

Within the sales division, Regional Mediaworks group national sales director Jeremy Simpson has recently been named director of sales for Southern Cross Austereo, while Austereo national sales director Cathy Thomas has been appointed national sales director of radio within the combined radio and television group.

Thomas said of Tyrrell’s appointment: “Paul’s leadership, broad client experience, and media and creative agency experience will add another dimension to the Melbourne sales team.”

Prior to his time at Sportsbet, Tyrrell worked as marketing manager of retail at Sigma Pharmaceuticals, and as group marketing manager at Tatts Group. 

Tyrrell replaces Fran Vavallo, who has left the company on maternity leave.
