Shortlists unveiled for Australian Magazine Awards

The Australian Magazine Awards (AMA) has unveiled this year's shortlists, naming titles like Harper's Bazaar, Better Homes and Gardens and Men's Health as contenders.

The program recognises magazines that perform at the highest level for publishers and advertisers, and covers a number of categories including food and entertainment, business, women's fashion, niche and youth.

Magazines are shortlisted based on ABC circulation, Roy Morgan Readership and Nielsen ad expenditure data.

Started in 2009, the awards now boast a number of categories available for entry such as Custom, Website, App and Event, which will be announced 8 October.

It also includes a Hall Of Fame category which is announced at the award's ceremony. Previous inductees are John Southern, Bernard Leser and Matt Handbury.

Magazine judging is conducted by a number of media buyers and will take place early October. Winners will be announced at a breakfast event at Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art on 1 November.
