Creative and strategic agency SapientNitro has made 15 staff redundant after it was dropped from the Stockland Residential business earlier in the month.

The agency was cut from the residential developer's national creative account in early November, as the company consolidated with incumbent Clemenger BBDO Sydney. The decision did not affect SapientNitro's holding of the Stockland Commercial Retail account.

The agency, which has offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, has made up to 15 staff redundant across its three offices as a result of the loss.

SapientNitro national managing director and vice president Paul Bennett said: "As part of its business consolidation efforts, Stockland Residential has decided to shift advertising duties away from SapientNitro.

"The consolidation prompted us to consider what is most needed for our business going forward and resulted in the unfortunate exit of fewer than 15 people across all of SapientNitro’s Australia offices.

"This was a tough but necessary decision that will help better align our capabilities and skills mix with the company's evolving strategic direction of connecting brands with digitally enabled consumers."

SapientNitro's current clients include Unilever, Streets, Dreamworld, OPSM and The Queensland Government.
