Samsung content deal 'a big opportunity for advertisers' says Seven

4 March 2013

Yahoo!7 has done a deal with Samsung to put its services and premium content on Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets, plus Smart TVs, Blu-ray players and home theatres. The firm's Plus7 catch-up TV service, as well as Fango, will be pre-installed as an app on some Galaxy phones.

It's a solid win for Yahoo!7 with Samsung recently becoming the most aggressive competitor to Apple's dominance in the smartphone market thanks to its Galaxy SIII. Early this year Samsung managed to top the 40 million mark in terms of worldwide sales in the first seven months availability.

Chief sales and digital officer of the Seven Network Kurt Burnett said the move was good news "not only consumers ... but also our advertising partners".

Arno Lenior, marketing director – corporate, Samsung Electronics Australia  said it would "provide consumers with a truly connected multi-screen experience".

To back up the new relationship an integrated commercial partnership across the Seven West Media Group will see advertising campaigns run across Channel Seven, 7TWO, 7Mate and Pacific Magazines and the Yahoo!7 Network during 2013.
