Clemenger BBDO Sydney has let go of five staff following a “rebalancing” in May which saw much of the Foxtel creative account move to CHE in Melbourne.

Clemenger BBDO Sydney still works on the Foxtel business, however following the Foxtel-Austar merger and an increase in retail work, much of the creative account was shifted to retail agency CHE in Melbourne.

Clemenger BBDO Sydney chief executive Andy Pontin told AdNews: “There's been a rebalance between ourselves and CHE.”

He confirmed that four suits and one creative had been made redundant as part of the rebalance.

After the Foxtel-Austar merger, Foxtel consolidated its creative accounts within the Clemenger Group while parting ways with Austar's old agencies The Monkeys, Lavender and Dynamix.

While Clemenger BBDO Sydney was previously Foxtel's main creative partner, the agency introduced Foxtel to CHE about 18 months ago to handle retail work.

CHE has since taken on a much larger creative remit.

While the account movement happened some months ago, the redundancies only occurred recently.
