Ragtrader magazine goes Live to define success and failure in fashion

Australian fashion business journal and AdNews sister title Ragtrader has launched a conference series on the back of its 40th anniversary, revealing a speaker line-up of industry powerbrokers. Defining the difference between success and failure will the key thread.

The inaugural edition, titled 'Homegrown Heroes: Knowing Today What Tomorrow Will Bring', will spotlight business strategies which have revolutionised the lucrative fashion sector in Australia.

The event will be staged at Sydney's Doltone House on 6 August. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.ragtrader.com.au/ragtrader-live.

The speaker line-up includes powerbrokers from Asos, Gap Australia, Carla Zampatti, The Iconic, former Vogue editor and author Kirstie Clements and Colliers research director Nora Farren, who will reveal which international retailers are coming to Australia next.

Ragtrader editor Assia Benmedjdoub said the event will spotlight why players such as Asos can "sell an item to Australia every six seconds" while other traders clock consecutive sales declines.

“The Australian fashion industry is in a profound state of metamorphosis," she said. “On the one hand, iconic traders such as Lisa Ho, Fletcher Jones and Colorado Group are slumping into voluntary administration while Asos, Net-A-Porter, Zara and Topshop record roaring trade.

“What strategies are behind this success? This will be at the core of Ragtrader Live.”

The event has secured platinum sponsor Stylesight and gold sponsor AMP Capital. Early-bird tickets purchased prior to 30 June are priced at $245 and include a full day of presentations, meals and evening networking drinks.
