The commercial radio industry grew year-on-year ad revenue 5.65% for the 2010/2011 financial year, but posted a decrease in revenue for the month of June.

According to figures released by Commercial Radio Australia (CRA), the industry saw $683.9 million in advertising revenue in the last financial year.

Perth saw the highest growth, increasing 8.4% to $91.55 million. Sydney grew 5.9% to $214.5 million, Melbourne increased 4.6% to $204.5 million, Brisbane jumped 6.5% to $110 million, while Adelaide grew 2.9% to $64.4 million.

Despite the growth, the month of June was slow for the industry. Total revenue for June fell 1.2% year-on-year. While Brisbane and Perth saw growth, the Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney markets saw declines.

CRA chief executive Joan Warner said: "The radio industry has worked hard to promote the strengths of radio for advertisers with the industry’s ongoing brand campaign and offers cross platform opportunities on radio, online and now also on digital radio."
