Prime Media Group's chief executive of television Doug Edwards has been made redundant, following a restructure of the company's executive ranks.

Edwards, who has been with the company for 20 years, will step down in June. His responsibilities will be absorbed by Prime Media Group's chief executive Ian Ausdsley.

Audsley said: “We have had a very successful year in television and we continue to strive for improvements in the structure and performance of our business.”

Edwards said: “I am proud to be leaving the company in such a strong and dominant position, and would like to wish the chairman, Mr Paul Ramsay and the Prime Media Group team all the best and thank them for the amazing opportunities offered to me during the past two decades.”

The announcement follows a review and a restructure of the company's local sales management team in NSW and Victoria, which saw the role of general manager NSW absorbed.

In August 2011, the company saw $27.2 million in profits for the 2010-11 financial year.
