Optus has settled a lawsuit lodged by former marketer Kerry Morrison against the company and two senior executives, Michael Smith and Austin Bryan.
Morrison filed a $14.5 million suit in April 2012 and alleged a culture of bullying at the company. She was terminated from Optus in February 2012 after less than six months as head of digital marketing, sales and service. She previously worked for Cudo and Vodafone Hutchison Australia.
Optus declined to disclose the amount the legal action was settled for.
An Optus spokesperson said: “We are pleased that the matter has been resolved without the need for a lengthy and expensive court hearing. Optus has fully investigated this matter and believes that our executives have acted appropriately at all times. Optus has full confidence in the executives who were named in the action.
“Optus feels that resolving the dispute at an early stage without the need for a court determination was in the best interests of all parties given the cost and time involved in this type of litigation.”
Smith was the former top marketer at Optus before moving to parent company SingTel in a global role at the beginning of the year. Bryan was previously director of Optus Digital Media and is now vice president strategic transformation.
