Industry speculation is swirling about an imminent announcement from the Nine Network on its troubled reality series Excess Baggage, with plans for the show to be siphoned into digital channel Go from next week.

Big Bang Theory is being lined up to replace the struggling $20 million local production.

This follows Nine's early launch of the show and flagging ratings, in the face of competition from Ten's The Biggest Loser and Seven's stalwart Home and Away.

Nine network executives could not be contacted for confirmation, but programming executives and Nine Entertainment Co CEO David Gyngell are expected to announce the decision today or tomorrow.

AdNews revealed last week that Nine executives were holding crisis meetings regarding the fate of Excess Baggage. It now appears the show's fate has been sealed.
