Nine just hangs on to victory on Thursday

Nine just pipped Seven for the night in audience share with three of the top five programs – Nine News, A Current Affair and The Block - on Thursday.

The Block was the highest rating non-news, non-current affairs series yesterday as 1.23 million viewers tuned in, according to preliminary overnight figures from OzTam. It beat out MasterChef in its timeslot as the Ten cooking competition drew in 943,000 viewers.

Seven News was the most watched show for the night with 1.28 million people, closely followed by Nine's news bulletin with 1.25 million.

Other programs in the top 20 last night were Today Tonight (Seven), Hot Property (Nine), ABC News, Home and Away (Seven), Ten News, Grey's Anatomy (Seven), The Footy Show (Nine), Deal or No Deal (Seven), Hot Seat (Nine), 7:30 (ABC), Catalyst (ABC), Glee (Ten), Silk (ABC), CSI (Nine) and The Project (Ten).

Across the main channels, Nine narrowly won the night with 22.7% of audience share, followed by Seven with 21.3%, Ten with 14.4%, the ABC with 11.6% and SBS had 4.6%.
