Nike heralds havoc with new slow-mo spot

Nike has rolled out a new international slow motion-style spot for its Merucial Vapor IX shoes, showing Portuguese football player Cristiano Ronaldo leaving an epic trail of destruction during a game.

The one minute ad, uploaded to the brand's YouTube channel, shows a football game in slow motion being destroyed by an unknown, powerful force. The carnage is revealed at the end to have been created by Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo running towards the goal.

It aims to promote Nike's new Merucial Vapor IX shoes and was created by Wieden & Kennedy Tokyo and Portland.

Meanwhile, the company has also recently launched another celebrity-fronted ad, this time starring American basket baller Kobe Bryant. Created by the same agency, the playful spot heralds the sportstar and celebrates his place in the world.

The female-narrated ad features copy such as: "This is how the world works. The sun shines. The grass grows. Kobe Bryant arrives to practice at 3, the other 3. Chickens bock bock bock. Broccoli can fight cancer. Rice provides energy. Kobe eats rice, broccoli, chicken. And the world turns."

It finishes with the tagline 'Count on Kobe' and is for his Kobe 8 System sneakers.
