Yahoo!7 has revealed its upgraded finance website, with new personalisation features and an integrated Twitter feed in addition to local and international financial news. The site will also integrate into MarketDash, Yahoo!7's finance app.
DTDigital appoints general manager
STW-owned digital agency DTDigital has appointed Phil Whitehouse as general manager of its recently-opened Sydney office. Waterhouse joins from London agency The Team where he was digital strategy director.
Google changes ranking criteria
Google are more likely to rank a brand higher if it also has a Google+ page, according to a report in The Sydney Morning Herald. The move comes after changes made by the search giant in the US, which factors in social media.
Bashful strengthens strategy
Creative and strategic agency Bashful has appointed former Euro RSCD 4D Amsterdam strategic planner David Feenstra as strategy planner, as the agency moves into a new Sydney office. Feenstra has worked on brands including Becks, Heineken, Kraft Foods, Philips and Vodafone.
MYOB hires GM of marketing
Business software management provider MYOB has appointed Seek Melbourne's senior brand marketer Caroline Ruddick as general manager of marketing. During her time as Seek's marketing manager of brand strategy, she developed the recent "If it exists" campaign, as well as the 2007 "Curious" campaign.
Car buying intentions on the increase
According to Roy Morgan, an increased number of Australians are intending to buy cars in te next four years, with the December figure of 2.26 million up on the November result of 2.23 million. The automotive industry is one of the leading industries in terms of advertising dollars.
Gen Y driving online traffic
According to Roy Morgan, website traffic is largely driven by Generation Y, people born between 1976 and 1990. In the 12 months to September 2011, 86% of Gen Y's visited a portal in an average four week period, with 85% visiting a search site, 81% going to an online community or messaging site, 78% checking email and 63% going to banking sites.
Nine's O'Sullivan departure causes speculation
Following the resignation of Nines COO Pat O'Sullivan, Hedge fund
investors have linked O'Sullivan's departure with declining hope of the
company's chances of refinancing. Debt hedge funds such as Apollo and
Oaktree hold about half Nine's senior debt.
MCN Melbourne bolsters staff
Multi Channel Network MCN will embark on a restructure of its Melbourne operations, bolstering staff to meet increased sales demand. Senior account managers Adam Fiske and Amber Ballagh have been promoted to group account manager roles joining Adam McConnell and Matt Bartlett in leading Melbourne's account teams.
ACP Magazines drops cash
According to reports ACP Magazines accidentally deposited $3.8million into an Australian Papparazzo's bank account. According to reports, the mistake was made when the publisher was supposed to be transferring profits from the businesses New Zealand branch to its Australian headquarters.
HBO invests in Quickflicks
HBO has invested $10million in online DVD rental company Quickflix, giving it a 16% stake in the company. HBO will also attempt for a seat on the board.
Business magazine In The Black goes online
CPA Australia's business publication In The Black has transitioned to the digital realm launching online, expanding the brand with web-only content. The website-only content offers analysis, commentary, opinion, polls and interview galleries.
