Tapit and Creative Instore Solutions sign NFC deal
NFC company Tapit has inked a partnership with Creative Instore Solutions which will see the latter distribute Tapit NFC technology through its network to retailers globally. The deal was signed at Cannes.

iiNet bows to ACCC ruling
Internet service provider iiNet has paid an infringement notice of $102,000 to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in relation to an advertisement for its Naked DSL service. The ACCC argued the ad failed to prominently state the total minimum price payable for the service. This is the first infringement notice to be paid by a publicly listed company for an alleged breach of the Australian Consumer Law. iiNet chief regulatory officer Steve Dalby said:  "iiNet is committed to meeting our obligations of compliance under the Australian Consumer law. When advised by the regulator that our interpretation of 'prominence' was not adequate, we immediately took steps to rectify the advertisement in question. Although there are no specific guidelines in the law outlining what is adequate prominence, we have a comprehensive compliance program in place to help us meet this continuing challenge."

ACCC slams Brisbane rent-a-car company
The Federal Court has ordered the owners of Brisbane rental car and truck company Abel Rent a Car, Nonchalant Pty Ltd, to pay penalties of $30,000 following action by the ACCC for misleading advertising. The ACCC investigated the ad after a complaint from a customer who claimed they had to pay more than the price they were quoted online to pick up a car.

Positive Body Image Awards deadline extended
The Australian Government has extended the deadline for nominations to the Positive Body Image Awards by one a week with a new closing date now the 28th June. The awards aim to recognise advertisers who embrace positive body image.

Gordon and Gotch hits appy milestone
Gordon and Gotch Australia has surpassed the 100 mark in live branded magazine apps. It now boasts 108 apps.
